8 From the 80s: Babes

Each installment Mike will look back to the decade of decadence and provide a list of eight things – from movies to music to memorable moments and everything in-between.  Keep in mind, this isn’t a TOP 8 list and any numerical notations are included to merely designate one item from another. Because, frankly, how can rate one thing over another when it came from a decade as totally tubular as the 80s?

80s Babes
This was an incredibly hard list to come up with.  Not because filling eight spots was difficult... filling ONLY eight spots was nearly impossible. Olivia Newton-John, Erin Gray, Madonna, and Cindy Crawford are just a few that immediately come to mind.  But this is called "EIGHT" from the 80s, so eight it must be. Let's go!

8. Sean Young
Sean helped start the 80s off right with turns in the comedy classic Stripes and sci-fi favorite Blade Runner.

7. Brooke Shields
Nothing came between her and her Calvins while The Blue Lagoon and Endless Love cemented her as one of the early 80s hottest babes.

6. Demi Moore
General Hospital introduced Demi and 80s hits like St. Elmo’s Fire, About Last Night, and One Crazy Summer ensured we’d never forget her.

5. Lea Thompson
Lea had All the Right Moves fighting Russians during Red Dawn, but it was when she went Back to the Future as Marty McFly’s mom that Thompson became a household name.

4. Jennifer Beals
While she spent the bulk of the 80s in college, Beals danced her way into everyone’s hearts as Alex, the drop-dead, smoking-hot welder/exotic dancer in 1983’s Flashdance.

3. Carrie Fisher
Two words: Gold and bikini. Return of the Jedi showed a side of Fisher everyone remembers – the fact that she was also in Blues Brothers, Under the Rainbow, and The ‘Burbs is just gravy.

2. Heather Locklear
The fact that Locklear was on our televisions on a near weekly basis from 1981 through 1989 thanks to Dynasty and, T.J. Hooker for the middle part of the decade, makes Locklear hard to forget.

1. Phoebe Cates
It’s hard to hear the Cars’ hit “Moving in Stereo” without thinking of Cates emerging from a swimming pool in slow-motion before slowly taking her bikini top off in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Oh, yeah, she was also in Gremlins.
