"Do They Know It's Christmas?"

IT'S A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!!
Episode #69 is available 2+ days early! That's right, you can LISTEN NOW!
************
Episode #69

It's Christmas and Joseph and Mike are putting on a show! But first they run down some of their favorite Christmas movies and songs. Then it's time for Joe to answer the Monthly Mix-Tape Challenge before the lights go down and the curtain comes up as the Uphill Both Ways Players present their version of "A Christmas Carol". Of course there are the usual diversions like when Mike explains why Die Hard is a Christmas movie and It's a Wonderful Life isn't, when Joe talks about the weather in South Korea, and a very brief word or two about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. There's no coal in this stocking!

"The Eye of the Tiger"

Episode #68

Tangent / noun /ˈtæn·dʒənt/ a subject or activity that is different than the one you are talking about or doing / "In this episode Mike and Joseph go off on a tangent".
Christmas lights, whodunnits, mix tapes, comedians, and movies about wrestling. What's the main topic? It's hard to tell with this one, folks. We're gonna leave it up to YOU to figure it out!

"I Thank You"

Episode #67

It's the UBW Special Thanksgiving show! After giving some shout-outs to a few things that they are thankful for, Joseph and Mike dive into the Mix-Tape Challenge. Mike had Joe on the ropes with this one, but the music historian pulled it out and delivered a pitch perfect mix-tape of songs that were hits on soundtracks before being on an artist's own album. From there it's on to the main course, and since it's Thanksgiving, that can mean only one thing: turkey! Or, in this case, TURKEYS. As in, cinematic "turkeys" - movies that were so bad they don't even circle back to the "so bad it's good" status! So instead of talking politics or watching football, why not just say "Alexa, play Uphill Both Ways" and then sit back and enjoy while you slip into a tryptophan-induced slumber. This is Turkey Day, UBW style!

"Take a Letter, Maria"

Episode #66

As Mike and Joseph transition from Halloween to Thanksgiving they decide to dive into listener mail to see what the people are saying. There's questions dealing with carpets, clowns, magazines, and more! But before all of that, the guys talk about "Christmas Creep", All-Elite Wrestling, NWA Power, and of course the Monthly Mix-Tape Challenge. Consider this your retro palette cleanser from all of that chocolate and candy a couple of weeks ago.

And how does guerrilla (or is it GORILLA?) warfare figure into all of this? It's the perfect episode to get you in the mood for the upcoming Halloween holiday!

"I Wanna Go Back"

Episode #62

Things start out a little somber this episode as Mike and Joseph lament the passing of classic rock legend, Eddie Money. Things don't stay blue for too long, though, as they talk about judging films for the Filmquest film festival, run down the latest "Mix Tape Challenge" and then set their sights on memories from elementary school. Wacky Packages, pencil fighting, and... going on strike? Don't know about you, but I "Wanna Go Back"!

"New Year's Day"

Erk! We meant to post this much earlier, but a wicked battle broke out between some Megos and kung-fu grip GI Joes and, well, we lost track of time.
ANYWAY!
It's a new year, so that means that it's time to look back at the year gone by. At least, that's what most people would do. Joseph and Mike aren't most people, though - so instead of looking back at 2018, they're looking back at 1978 and 1988! It's Auld Lang Syne with an Uphill Both Ways retro pop-culture twist!
